Is OpenAI really infringing copyright law?
According to “The New York Times” yes. In fact, they recently sued OpenAi for improper use of copyrighted works in AI training and displaying results.
OpenAI on the other side claims that their use of works is in line with the U.S. “fair use” principles. Furthermore, in defence, they state that The New York Times manipulated their tool to get verbatim copies of the newspaper articles, which would clearly be against OpenAI’s terms of use.
