Exciting News! The EU Parliament has given the green light to the AI Act, marking a historic milestone in #AI regulation worldwide! Here’s what you need to know:
The AI Act is the #first-ever legal framework on AI and will directly impact all EU member states.
Similar to the GDPR, the AI Act #extends its reach beyond EU borders, affecting countries like Switzerland.
It places obligations on #producers and #providers of generative AI, tailoring requirements based on the level of risk associated with AI usage.
High-risk AI applications, such as those used in #education or training, will face stringent transparency requirements to protect individuals’ access and opportunities (e.g. scoring of exams).
The Act mandates #transparency in copyrighted materials used to train AI and in AI interactions, ensuring users are aware when they’re engaging with AI systems, including chatbots and AI-generated content.
Minimal-risk AI applications, like AI-powered video games, are #free to be used.
The countdown almost begins! Once published in the Official Journal, the AI Act will come into force in 20 days, becoming fully applicable in 2 years.
Swiss companies producing and exporting generative AI to the EU market will also need to comply with the AI Act’s regulations.
